+327 You can tell that someone is socially awkward when they use this :-), amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

:-) Wait, I better change it up so no one thinks I'm socially awkward... >:-]

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What if they're using an Android phone?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't get it. :-) Sent from my android EVO 4G.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Stock Android phones don't have them. I want a social outcast Smiley :(

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know about other phones, but on the Galaxy, if you're sending an SMS, you can type that in and it turns into: http://nilvec.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/android-smile.png

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It might be an Android thing. I've never tried it because if it didn't work I'd look retarded. My words do plenty enough of that thankyouverymuch.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Makes sense.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes they do, mine is stock and it has it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You sure? I can't find it on the Gingerbread keyboard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well I have FroYo, so it might have changed with an update. But on the FroYo keyboard, it's at the bottom-right corner.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I checked my old Intercept with FroYo and it didn't have it. I even checked.messaging. But I just found it on Gingerbread. It's only in messaging. But seriously Google, surely this: B-) must be some sort of joke.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, really. What model is your Gingerbread phone?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It doesn't technically have Gingerbread yet. I just installed Cyanogen mod. No warranty for me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, I see. I'm trying to install the Velocity ROM on my LG Ally, but I don't have the right OS on my computer to flash it on my phone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How do you not have the right OS on your computer? Is there a tool you need to install a certain recovery or something?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No it uses the command prompt on the computer, and for it to work right, you have to be on Windows XP SP2 or use Windows 7 Ultimate or Professional in Compatibility Mode. But it completely overrides the OS to 2.2.1 and then you have to flash the ROM.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm glad I don't have to deal with command prompts. There's actually a tool for my phone that does all that stuff for me. Nothing ever worked when I did it myself.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do you use the Clockwork Mod recovery tool?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well that too but there's a program called Rom Tools which pretty much just installs anything you tell it to when you have the phone plugged in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'll have to look into that. Do you know if it works with Vista?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It only works with LG Optimus One variants. Sorry. Otherwise it would be to good to be true.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nothing works with Vista D: well I'm upgrading my computer to Windows 7 next week, so my problems will be solved.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You could probably solve even more problems by upgrading your phone too. Though we're probably pissing the OP off with all our nerd talk.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

To hell with OP :P yeah my upgrade is sometime in September I think, so I should have a lot less problems.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lucky. I use Virgin Mobile so I can't really upgrade. If I want a better phone I have to pay 300 dollars for the Triumph.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm going to have to pay 300 dollars for the phone I want too. I'm getting the Droid Bionic when it comes out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Doesn't Motorola lock their bootloaders?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah they have been, but I think that they are going to start unlocking them again.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The X2 was locked. I can't remember about the Droid 3 but I think it was too. The Triumph phone isn't bit that's only because it's a rebranded phone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Droid 3 is, too. But I think I read somewhere that they were unlocking them again. Maybe it was HTC. I can't remember.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think both of them said that. HTC definitely did. Maybe Motorola didn't. Actually I just checked. They promised they would late 2011. And I think they unlocked the Atrix in its Gingerbread update.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thats good, so I can get it and not worry about a locked bootloader.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe. Then again, every phone they've made this year came with it locked. By the time your upgrade comes though you should be able to find out though so I guess that doesn't matter.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, that's true. I can always get the Nexus phone when Google releases it if the bootloader is locked.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I would do that. At least then you'll get updates immediately. Everyone else likes to take their time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, and it will be the first phone to have Ice Cream Sandwich.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah. Although I'll probably never get that unless Cyanogen makes a build for it and someone ports it. Which I doubt will happen.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I dont think it will either, but you can always hope.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It probably won't. Besides, something tells me Google is going to start cracking down on hardware requirements. Surely they must be annoyed with people complaining how slow Android is on their Samsung budget phone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I would hope so. I wouldn't wish a 600 mHz processor like mine on anybody.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Eh. Mine works pretty decently. It annoys me from time to time but it's obviously survivable. It's actually really smooth. At least LG knew what it was doing. Have you seen the Samsung Intercept? Only Samsung phone I've ever owned and already I want to beat the CEO over the head with it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but if its only 600 mHz, then it can't support Flash Player, and I like to have that option, at least until HTML5 becomes more widespread.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's true. But at the moment I'm broke and can't afford the Triumph so I have to live with this. For a budget phone, the Optimus is actually really good. Aside from the obvious limitations.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Ally is pretty good for the $50 I spent on it, but as long as I have it I'll always want something better.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

At least you have a keyboard. Swype is shit. But yeah that's how it works. That's why I would rather go with a Nexus phone. They don't get outdated as quickly as normal phones. That and they always have Google's support.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but I didn't really like the Nexus S. The lack of a microSD slot really made me not want it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Plus its made by Samsung (shudder). But by the time your upgrade comes the third Nexus should be out or at least really close to it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, and hopefully it will support Verizon unlike the past two.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It should. I would assume Goggle would want to take some attention away from the iPhone. Putting their flagship on the two carriers that don't have it doesn't really help them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, that's true, but they just released the Nexus S for AT&T last week. So Verizon is the only carrier that doesn't have it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A bit late for that. I think At&t was a last minute sort of idea. Or maybe Verizon is just too obsessed with bloating up their phones.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but the original Droid wasn't bloated up, and mine isn't either, which was weird I thought.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Probably because Verizon didn't have experience with Android until after the Droid. And I'm guessing yours is because it was such an insignificant device already they didn't bother. I never really even remembered the Ally until now. And it actually had a commercial.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, everybody forgets the Ally, but it's not that memorable anyway. I wish I could forget it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It was too soon to make budget Android phones back then. But again, at least you have a keyboard. Virtual keyboards suck on these small displays.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, a physical keyboard is this phone's saving grace.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I wish I could say the same about the Intercept. If you ever feel bad about your phone, just look up thoughts and opinions on the Intercept. You'll feel a lot better.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't doubt it. I bet even that's not as bad as the Droid Eris, though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know. The Intercept was terrible. Even with FroYo there are times where you have to wait up to 20 seconds for the screen to turn on. And this conversation is so long my keyboard is actually lagging.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah but at least your screen is bigger than 3.0 inches isn't it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It says 3.2 but it's actually more like 3.1. The Intercept is. And it has a really bad resolution. QVGA I think. Doesn't the Droid Eris have 3.2?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it's even smaller than that. It's tiny. My cousin had it and it was miniscule even compared to my 3.2" screen.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The specs say 3.2 but I don't know. They tend to mess those up a lot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, they do a lot. It's really annoying sometimes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not that annoying. Mostly just bothersome. They've never screwed up the specs that bad. But my battery died and I turned on my Intercept because I was too lazy to go on my computer and now I miss this keyboard. But the fact that this page took about 5 minutes to load up makes me not care as much.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow. Assume someone is socially awkward for using a certain emoticon. When you already are sitting on the internet.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are too, though!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What do you have against noses?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

[generic Voldemort joke]

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yeah, opposed to :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Socially awkward? :-(

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When I use a smiley on my phone, that's just what it comes up with :-)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lolwut
