Why is it called a "Glove compartment?" Unless you're planning on murdering someone, I don't think there will be any gloves in there, amirite?

What about in the winter, when it's cold, and you need gloves? Also, back in the 50s and 60s, women wore gloves everywhere.

in the winter you keep spare gloves in there. i snowboard so i have a lot of gloves- i've yet to murder anyone, they also come in handy when you have to clean off the ice/snow from your windshield.

It's good to keep gloves in there for when the steering wheel is made out of ice in the winter. They come in handy.

Because ages and ages ago it was extremely common for people to wear Driving Gloves and that's where they kept them
