I tried so hard to make a family and keep it going without using cheats.
It was way too difficult.
So I used cheats.
I also like the setHour one, too. So I can get the stupid teenagers to do their homework.

Familyfunds (just hold down 9 until you've got the absolute max>motherlode (which is still awesome) > kaching (when in the HELL would you only want another 1000 when you can type in 3 more letters and get 50K?!)
TS3 needs testingcheatsenabled true for familyfunds to work but whatever. I built a 300K mansion and barely made a dent in my family's money.

if you type testingcheatsenabled true then right click on the mail box and click make all happy, you can make all of their needs green (like sleep, food, etc) i have only tried it on sims 3 thought :)

On Sims 2, you can just open the cheat box and type in maxmotives. :)
