There's nothing wrong with being a Muslim, but please have a little respect for our country and build your mosque somewhere else. It's not a racist thing, it's a patriotic thing, amirite?

It's not actually a mosque. There already is a real mosque nearby. It's just an effin' community center.

Actually, Muslim isn't even a race. It's the title given to those who follow the religion Islam. People are allowed to practice their religion anywhere. America is made up of more than one religion, and more than one group of people with specific beliefs.
Edit: Muslims didn't attack the USA, terrorists did. If terrorists wanted to build a building to worship terrorist at Ground Zero, then there would be problems.

In America we have freedom of religion.

Okay, I understand what y'all are trying to say, and I get the freedom of religion thing. But it's like when the nuns wanted to build a convent next to a concentration camp that is now used as remembrance of the Jews who died during the Holocaust. They didn't get to build their convent because it was considered disrespectful to the Jews. I understand that not all Muslims are bad, and I didn't mean that they are their own race. I'm just saying that the least they could do is have a little reverence for our country and everyone who died in that accident.

Also, in Germany and America, we think quite differently. In general, Germans are still very sorry and feel guilty about what happened in WW2. Americans love America no matter what.

So what? Who the bloody hell do you think you are to take away people's right to build what they want, on property they own?

I think it's the most American thing they could possibly do. By showing us that the minority has rights too, whether or not you agree with what they do, and that their rights should be protected, even if it's unpopular. A lot of great ideas have been unpopular, freeing the slaves for example, or giving women the right to vote, for example.

But if it's not their religion that's the issue, why can't they build their community center? What does being Muslim have to do with it? Other than people's stereotype that Muslim= terrorist, which just isn't true. That's like saying it would be disrespectful for white people to visit a Black History Museum because the people in the KKK were white.

The reputation that Al-Qaeda has earned for other Muslims is most definitely not fair. But this is a matter of ethics, morals, and point-blank respect. We haven't built any KKK memorials next to Black History Museums or whatever, and I think that Ground Zero is a place to be revered. Maybe it's just me who thinks this, but building the mosque- whether as an attempt to anger us or not- seems a bit like they're mocking our country and the site itself.

The community center is not a memorial for the terrorists in 9/11 so you can't really compare it to building a KKK memorial. If white people wanted to build a community center next to a Black History Museum they'd have every right to. How are they mocking our country? If it was Non-Muslim Americans building a community center next door would you have the same problem?

Okay, So then where do the boundaries lie? How close are we aloud to build things around Ground Zero? 4 blocks away? 6 blocks ? 8? Should we shut down all the buildings in close proximity to the site? And then what should be allowed to be built there? Since it seems like some establishments are more offensive than others. Is building a McDonald's near Ground Zero less offensive than building a Starbucks? Seems like we're getting into dangerous territory here.
