More like you're going on a very popular new way of interaction -- the internet and its many social networking websites. In life chances of meeting such great people are slim because you have such a limited circle of people, but online you can meet and talk with basically everyone who has internet, including people from other countries and age groups.

And I'M saying it's not ironic because it's one of the leading ways to socialise. It'd be ironic if to socialise you went somewhere non-social, but the internet is not such a place.
