Virginity is more of an accomplishment than a failure. It's not hard to lose it; there's always some promiscuous or drunk person who'll have sex with you. It's so much harder to contain your hormones and emotions and maintain your integrity, especially if you're with someone you really like, amirite?

We're not just animals. Sure, everything physical we do has a bodily function, but we have a higher intelligence and unmistakable personalities that heightens everything we do. Eating fulfills our hunger, but we also eat because we love the taste of food. Sleeping restores our energy, but we also sleep because we like the feel of a soft, warm bed. How the hell is being a virgin an accomplishment? Sex isn't a great feat of heroism, it's just a personal choice. I totally respect other people's choices and I think abstaining from sex is a very responsible thing to do for many people, especially young people. But most people have sex because they choose to have sex, not because they are to weak to refuse. Not having sex does not make you a better person and it's a really stupid thing to be proud of.

No. Having sex does not make you weak. Sexual attraction is not something that needs to be "resisted" anyway. If you want to have sex in a safe, healthy, fun way there is no reason not to go ahead and do it. Also, that kind of implies that everyone who has sex is weak and that's just wrong and sort of judgmental. Sex is a just personal choice, it's not a heroic deed or anything. That being said. Having safe healthy sex can sometimes be a scary, intimidating and of course, embarrassing, so I don't think it's shows weakness. No matter what you choose: abstinence or otherwise, it takes a great deal of responsibility, judgement, and courage to make responsible choices about sex.
