+29 Children should be given unrestricted internet access, amirite?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

"I did X and I turned out fine, why shouldn't everyone turn out fine???" They say that anecdotal evidence is like having a study with a sample size of 1.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Have you considered that maybe parents should teach their kids instead of letting them raw dog the internet?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Absolutely not. I was given unrestricted access, for the most part, and it's truly appalling what I ended up experiencing. Children have zero reason to be on the internet, unless it's for strictly educational purposes.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I experienced bad stuff as well but it's better to at a younger age so that you're desensitized to it earlier

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Or you're traumatized and develop negative core beliefs during a transformative time.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I'll have to disagree on that. Kids don't need to experience the stuff we did, especially at such a young age. I could've done without having access to the internet.

bro ain't no children coming off better for seeing hardcore porn and/or cartel murder vids

by barrett96 4 weeks ago

fuuuuuuuck no

by barrett96 4 weeks ago

Parents should just teach children how to use technology, the problem is that there are too few parents knowledgeable enough to do that.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Y'see. This is how me and several of my friends got groomed by predators. Nobody listen to this guy.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

You too? It's messed me up pretty bad. It went way too far before it ended.

by Inner-Carpet 4 weeks ago

I got groomed

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

So then why are you suggesting this? You figure it was fine or what?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

No I'm not saying it's fine but it didn't really traumatize me or anything

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I don't know how to reply to that, honestly. Either you're self-deluded or you're just very unusual. I can assure you most of us aren't so lucky.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

You're back?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

There is no benefit that even remotely outweighs the cons of this "idea"

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Children are also naïve, and can be collected by child predators if they are not monitored.

by Hermanclara 4 weeks ago

Nop.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Nope. I believe children should be taught to use the internet early, the internet is so crucial and central to everyday life now, but under very restricted and guided circumstances.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

They basically already have it.

by Possible-Egg 4 weeks ago

This is just bad parenting as anecdotal evidence for worse parenting and something that is objectively dangerous. Kudos!

by AdIcy20 4 weeks ago

No one is saying the internet isn't granting knowledge but I'd say the other side of the scale is way more detrimental to children and their wellbeing as a whole. You may have escaped your childhood with no real issues but there are other children who are easily targeted and trafficked. The pros do not outweigh the cons in this case. Unrestricted internet access could be dangerous for an adult, let alone a young impressionable child

Children should be driven to the Skid Row part of town and dropped off for the day. They'll learn so much useful information. < how you sound.

by Kaylietoy 4 weeks ago

but what if your parents had taught you? wouldn't have that been better? i had to learn a lot of things on my own as a child on the internet but i much would've preferred my mom teaching me about it and life skills. i was left floundering and it sucked. don't continue that cycle

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

What kind of internet was on phones when you were 7? Or am I old?

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Well this is certainly unpopular. +1

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

But I saw stuff like that when I was a child and im not messed up.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

oh that's not
