I find it entirely unwholesome and loathsome.
@58420 (Iamsorite): True, people tend to get rather pushy when it comes to their religion. Religion and calm, rational discussion rarely go hand in hand.
@58295 (mbaqangaspaz): I had a professor of evolutionary biology who was the same way.
@58244 (ilostmyshoe): Yeah, being subjective is not easy. And however hard you try, there will probably be some bias to deal with.
@58228 (ilostmyshoe): Absolutely, it is fun to learn about other cultures and what they believe. It just shouldn't be taught as fact in a scientific setting. I would love to see more religion classes in schools, as long as they are taught by objective teachers with no bias towards or against any one viewpoint.
But it is by openly discussing issues like religion that we come to see others points of view. It also exposes organized religion for the scam it is.
@58191 (Anonymous): I probably should not feed the troll. But here goes. Since when did we stop teaching facts in school? Schools should not be pushing religion on anybody. You would probably be outraged if Norse mythology or the Buddhist creations story was being taught in the classroom. Religion does not provide, and continues to fail to provide, any alternative facts to replace established science. Also, you are right, we did not come from a monkey. All primates diverged from a common ancestor long ago. So us and those "damn monkeys" are related, but we didn't come from them. We are like cousins.
And some of us make fun of both of them regardless.
Craig Ferguson trumps them both.
Just because the man has left the office, does not mean he is not responsible for the mess he left behind.
They are both awful.
And why not?
Trying to start a riot is not freedom of speech, it is inciting violence. So yeah, they deserve whatever happens to them.
@50384 (Katzchen): It may seem like the government is this big angry entity who doesn't care about anything. But once you have the chance to get out of high school, away from the influences of your parents and teachers so you can think for yourself, your thoughts may change. I'm just saying there is a safe and reasonable system already in place to distribute organs.

It is not about survival of the fittest. It's about natural selection.
