I've never been to Boston, or Connecticut. The buildings in my town are pretty gray as well, cos they're full of old people. Silly retirement towns.

I have a rain barrel for watering plants as well, it's really helpful. I wish people around here cared more. There's so much you can do without sacrificing anything.

My ideas has always been for water that goes down the sink drain go into the tanks of toilets. That way, when you wash your hands, you provide semi-clean water for the next person's flush.

And if you look at that graph you see yes, birth rate is very low. But "pregnancy is the highest since the 30's" isn't even close. It's actually dropped dramatically recently.
