+34 15 items or less should only accept 15 items. amirite?

Then they'll just pay for 15 items and do another transaction for the rest

It is annoying, but I doubt a store would reject a person trying to give them more money as they are at the register

In a French supermarket recently in the 10 items or less queue they let someone through with 25 items because 20 of them were exactly the same thing so they were all counted together as 1 of the 10. Standard practice there apparently.

Don't worry, soon checkouts will be obsolete and it will all be self-checkout.

It saddens me, but you are absolutely right.

Depends on the customer. I can ring up and bag 50 items faster than a lot of people can do 3. A lot of people are simply too stupid to use self checkout so there needs to be someone there ready to help these people.

That's why I get pissed hearing old people bitch about how the lanes aren't open with cashiers, but they willingly chose to get in self check out with a full cart

Before Whole Foods was bought by Amazon, I remember (at least in the one near me) that the 15 Items Or Less checkout was in a completely different part of the store, and someone would check to make sure you were only buying 15 items or less before you could get in line. Last time I went there (a few years ago), it was gone, and I have no idea why. It made so much sense, and at least from my perspective, really worked. I think stores, especially large chains, should implement that. No honor system, no guilting the cashier, nobody to annoy behind you.

I wouldn't be so sure about the IQ. They fall for every "health" and greenwashing scam in the store. Going with the Idiocracy metaphor, they are the people genuinely convinced Gatorade is good for plants. I'll give them being better at self checkout, but I think they are still probably entitled enough to bring 50 items to it.

No less, fewer.

Is this really a common thing? It seems like people usually stick to it or if they go over maybe it's like 1 or two items by accident.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE!!

by Beneficial_Rice 1 week ago

May I ask why?

by Hansenmarge 1 week ago

Eh, I'm just bored and trolling. Or actually being sarcastic. I feel like this is a popular sentiment among most people

You're not wrong but popular opinion. Just doesn't get the views as unpopular opinion does.
